Frequently Asked Questions

Boot Care

What should I do if I get horse manure (or other muck and mess) on my boots?

Yard manure, waste liquids and salt water can be very corrosive to leather. To prolong the lifespan and protect your Bareback footwear, always clean them with a soft brush and rinse with fresh tap water after contact.

Can I waterproof my boots?

Some of our boots are fully waterproof and are listed as such due to having a membrane beneath the leather. You may enhance the level of water resistance in any of our collection of boots with a waterproof spray. Please assess the product individual instructions before application. We would recommend that you always test the spray on a small portion of your boot, like the inner ankle area, before spraying your entire boot as some of these products may alter the colour of the leather and will smooth the nap of a nubuck or distressed leather. Our recommended waterproof spray to use on our collection is available via our site. If you are unsure if the boots you have are waterproof please do get in touch with us prior to use so we can advise.

How do I care for my Bareback boots?

Proper care and treatment of your boots is one of the best things you can do to prolong the life of your Bareback boots. We have available a range of products paired especially for our boots, you can view these here: https://bit.ly/33pPoQa.  If you are unsure of which product to choose for your boots please do get in touch with us.

How to care and store your boots

Yard manure, waste liquids and salt water can be very corrosive to leather. To prolong the lifespan and protect your Bareback footwear, always clean them with a soft brush and rinse with fresh tap water after contact.

When storing your boots you should follow these guidelines

  • Boots should be cleaned, dried and treated before storing for extended periods.
  • Boots will hold a better shape over time when boot trees are inserted when not in use.
  • The storage environment should be mild, dry and not fluctuate in extremes of temperature
  • Avoid storage in direct sunlight, heat or cold

How to care and store my suede boots

Before wearing your suede boots outside we would recommend using a suede protector spray on them, this will provide an element of protection and water resistance for the suede. You should avoid wearing suede in mud and very wet conditions; if the suede does come in to contact with mud, it should be left to dry then brushed with a suede brush with the nap of the suede. The suede brush can also be used to brush out any marks and scuffs that may be on the boots from natural wear and use, please note that suede has a natural grain (the nap) this can be in opposite directions depending on the area of the boot. Please remove suede boots either by hand or with a boot jack not by 'kicking' the boots off or using a tough edge or a door frame/other as this can mark/ damage the heels of your boots

Our long suede boots can also benefit from being stored with boot trees inside to prolong the shape and contours of the suede. These products can be found on our accessories page.

Sizing Advice

How do I measure for Tall Boots?

Refer to our size guide for help on choosing the right fit for yourself.

How can I tell if my boots fit properly?

Pull out the foot bed and place your foot from heel to toe on the foot bed. If you place your thumb at the toe area and it fits comfortably, this should ensure a proper fit, allowing enough slippage in the heel.

Where can I find Size Charts?
