Each of these uses a STORMPROOF WIL-TEX® or Wil-tex® membrane lining that is confirmed waterproof and breathable, so your feet stay dry without overheating.

The Montana Riding Boots, Andalucia Boots and Graceland Long Riding Field Boots are built from leather with a moisture-wicking Therma-tex® or Therma-Tex® lining rather than a waterproof membrane, so they are better suited to dry yard work, showground use or smart occasions than standing in a puddle all morning.

Several of our long boots come in a wide calf fitting alongside the standard fit, so you can choose the right room around the leg without the boot gaping at the top or feeling tight after a day in the saddle.

• Andalucia Boots take this further with a full-length rear lace system giving up to 3.5cm of adjustable calf width, plus Standard or Wide Fit options.

Comfort features vary by model, so it is worth matching the lining to how you will use the boot:

• Quebec Waterproof Zip-up Wool Lined Boots and Alaska Storm Waterproof Boots both use a cosy sheep wool or shearling lining for the coldest mornings.
• Montana Riding Boots and Andalucia Boots feature a natural sheepskin insole for all-day comfort in and out of the saddle.
• Graceland Long Riding Field Boots use a full leather lining with a removable X-comfort® moulded insole for breathability during competition.
• The rest of the Quebec range uses an X-Comfort® memory foam insole with a gel heel insert for shock absorption during long days on your feet.

Fastenings affect both fit and how quickly you can get the boots on. The Quebec Waterproof Boots use a simple rear pull for fast slip-on wear, while the Quebec Zip Up models add a full-length Opti zip for an easier fit around a wider foot or high instep. Dakota and Montana boots use a classic OPTI zip with a fixed calf, so choose your Standard or Wide fitting at checkout. The Andalucia boots combine a rear zip with adjustable front lacing, giving the closest, most tailored calf fit of the range.

A well-fitting long boot should sit close to the leg without pinching behind the knee when you bend it, and there should be enough room across the ball of the foot to wiggle your toes with a normal riding sock on. Men's calves are often broader and more muscular than the standard boot last allows for, which is why we offer Wide Fit and adjustable options across much of the range rather than a single fitting.

If you are between calf sizes, or your calf measures towards the top of a size bracket, sizing up to the Wide Fit or an adjustable model such as the Andalucia is usually more comfortable than squeezing into a Standard fit. For foot width, the Quebec range's roomier last is worth trying if you have a high instep or a broader forefoot, even if you do not need extra calf room.

The Montana Riding Boots, Andalucia Boots and Graceland Long Riding Field Boots are leather boots with moisture-wicking linings rather than a waterproof membrane, so they are better suited to drier conditions.

The Dakota Waterproof Country Boots, Montana Riding Boots and Andalucia Boots are all available in Standard or Wide Calf, with the Andalucia adding adjustable lacing for up to 3.5cm of extra room. The Quebec range is cut as Wide Fit as standard.

Both come in Standard or Wide Calf, but the Dakota is fully waterproof with a Wil-tex® membrane and Duratread® outsole, making it the better choice for wet yard work. The Montana is not waterproof but adds a natural sheepskin insole and Therma-tex® layer for extra comfort, and comes in Black, Brown or Blue rather than the Dakota's Brown or Blue.

Yes. The waterproof Quebec, Dakota and Alaska boots are popular for dog walking, muddy fields and general country wear as well as yard work, thanks to their anti-slip soles and waterproof linings. The Montana, Andalucia and Graceland boots suit drier country walks or smart occasions rather than standing water.

The Quebec Waterproof Boots, Zip Up Ankle Boots, Ankle Boots and Zip-up Wool Lined Boots are all cut as Wide Fit as standard. The Quebec Zip Up Mid Calf Boots are built with a roomier last suited to a wider foot or high instep rather than a separate wide calf size.

Wipe off mud and dirt with a damp cloth after wear, allow the boots to dry away from direct heat, then feed the leather with a proper leather conditioner or wax. For the waterproof Quebec, Dakota and Alaska boots, use a waterproofing spray suitable for the membrane lining periodically to help maintain performance.
