The Hudson Mid Boots and Hudson Ankle Boots share the same waterproof lining in a shorter height, handy for quick jobs where you don't need full leg cover.

Everything else in this range, including Montana, Andalucia, Graceland, Georgia, Kentucky and Milan, is built from leather with breathable or moisture-wicking linings rather than a sealed membrane. They're comfortable for dry-day riding and yard use but aren't rated as waterproof, so keep them for fair weather or team them with overboots in heavy rain.

For a genuine wide calf fitting, the Hudson Storm Waterproof Boots and Montana Riding Boots both come in standard and wide calf versions, so you can pick the right width from the start. If your calf shape varies through the season, the Andalucia Boots and Kentucky Long Riding Boots use a full-leg lace or adjustable lace system that flexes to fit standard through to wider calves without needing a separate width.

The Georgia Long Riding Boots are cut closer to the leg with a nubuck stretch panel for a slimmer, competition-style silhouette. The Graceland and Milan boots also sit trimmer through the leg than the wide-calf options, with just a small stretch panel for movement rather than a full adjustable fit.

Most styles also include a moulded or gel heel insert and a built-in shank for arch support, so long days on your feet stay comfortable.

Long boots should sit snugly around the calf without gaping or digging in, with the top of the boot finishing just below the knee for freedom of movement. If you're between calf widths, or your calf shape changes through the year, an adjustable lace style like the Andalucia or Kentucky gives you more room to fine-tune the fit than a fixed standard or wide calf boot. Both are fully waterproof, but the Hudson Storm Waterproof Boots use a Wil-Tex membrane with a Duratread® outsole and come in standard and wide calf fittings, while the Vermont Storm Waterproof Long Riding Boots use a W-Tex® lining with a dual grip outsole and a lower 2cm heel more suited to riding.

Yes. All the boots in this range have a full-length OPTI zip for quick on and off, which makes them practical for daily yard chores as well as riding. If you're mucking out or feeding in wet conditions, choose a waterproof option like the Hudson or Vermont boots to keep feet dry.
