Every boot in this collection uses a fully waterproof membrane, most commonly our STORMPROOF WIL-TEX® lining, so you're covered whatever the British weather throws at you. The Hudson and Dakota ranges use the closely related Wil-tex® membrane with a soft gusset for 360° protection. Gel heel inserts and cushioned or memory foam insoles are fitted throughout for all-day comfort alongside the waterproofing.

Most of the Quebec range is cut as Wide Fit as standard, and the Alaska Storm Waterproof Boots suit both a standard and wide calf, making them a reliable choice if you find regular long boots tight around the leg. The Dakota Waterproof Country Boots go a step further, with a genuine Extra Wide Calf option in both Brown and Blue for the roomiest fit in the collection. The Hudson Mid Boots and Quebec Waterproof Boots offer a practical mid-calf height for everyday wear, while the Hudson Ankle Boots and Quebec Waterproof Ankle Boots are shorter still, ideal if you want a waterproof boot that's quicker to get on and off.

The Quebec Waterproof Boots and Quebec Waterproof Ankle Boots are true pull-on styles with a rear boot pull and elasticated ankle for a quick, snug fit. The Quebec Waterproof Zip Up Mid Calf and Zip Up Ankle Boots add a Premium Opti Zip, which makes them a better choice if you have a higher instep, limited ankle mobility, or simply prefer the ease of a zip. The Hudson range takes a similar approach with a full-length OPTI zip and decorative tasselled pull, combining a secure fit with easy access.

For the coldest, wettest days, the Quebec Waterproof Zip-up Wool Lined Boots and Alaska Storm Waterproof Boots both use a genuine sheep wool lining for extra warmth on top of their waterproof membrane. The Hudson range uses a sheep wool insole with a Therma-tex moisture-wicking lining through the leg, while the standard Quebec and Dakota boots rely on cushioned or memory foam insoles with a waterproof membrane, which is plenty for most three-season wear.

A good long boot should sit close enough at the calf to stay put when walking, without pinching. If you've measured a wide or full calf, choose one of our Wide Fit or Extra Wide Calf options rather than sizing up in a standard fit, as this affects length as well as width. Buckled styles such as the Hudson and Alaska ranges offer a little extra adjustment, while the Dakota's classic lace-front is fixed to the size ordered. Wear the socks you'll normally use with the boots when trying them for size.
