Long boots (Vermont Storm, Polar Storm, Hudson Storm, Dakota) offer full leg protection The Vermont Storm is our only waterproof long riding boot— designed with a 2cm heel and steel shank specifically for the stirrup.

Mid-calf boots (Quebec range, Alaska Storm) are a mid calf option and are the most versatile everyday choice. They're easier to get on and off than full-length boots, and most of the mid-calf Quebec range is available in Zip or pull on. The Quebec Zip-Up version is particularly good for high insteps or wider feet.

Ankle and short boots (Ottawa Storm, Blair Storm, Kentucky Storm, Idaho Storm) are the lightest and a really versatile option. They're well suited to yard work, dog walking, and riding, and many can be worn with half chaps for added leg coverage in the saddle.

If warmth is as important as waterproofing, look for boots lined with genuine sheep wool. These are the warmest options in the range:

• Polar Storm — sheep wool throughout the leg and footbed.
• Hudson Storm — sheep wool insole with Therma-tex moisture wicking lining in the leg
• Quebec Wool Lined — premium shearling zip-up mid-calf, ideal if you want shorter warmth with easy entry
• Alaska Storm — full sheep wool lining, mid-calf height
• Ottawa Storm — sheep wool footbed and ankle, waterproof with Dual Grip outsole

For milder winter conditions where you want waterproofing but not heavy insulation, any boot with the Wil-Tex® membrane will keep you dry — pair with a thermal sock instead.

Several boots in this range are available in wide fit, or have features that suit wider feet and calves:

• Quebec mid-calf (pull-on and zip-up) — these are generous through the calf, with extra room in the foot and suitable for standard to wide. The zip-up versions are also noted as good for a wider foot.
• Quebec ankle — a standard ankle fit rather than a calf-width option, offering a roomier foot feel with slip-on or zip entry that helps a high instep.
• Alaska Storm — wide fit available
• Dakota Waterproof — available in standard or wide calf long country boot
• Blair Storm & Kentucky Storm — adjustable lace system means you can set the fit around your ankle and instep regardless of foot shape

Not all waterproof boots are designed with riding in mind — here's what to look for and which boots deliver it:

• Heel: A small heel (around 2cm) helps keep your foot in the stirrup. The Vermont Storm has a specific 2cm riding heel; most jodhpur-style ankle boots also have a heel.
• Shank support: A moulded shank stiffens the sole underfoot, keeping your foot stable in the stirrup. Most boots in this range include a shank.
• Spur rests: The Idaho Storm has double rear spur rests for those who ride with spurs.

The best choices for riding specifically are the Vermont Storm (long boot), and the Idaho Storm, Blair Storm, Kentucky Storm, and Ottawa Storm for ankle-height riding use.

Every boot in this collection uses either a Wil-Tex® waterproof membrane bonded inside the leather upper. This membrane is bonded seamlessly to block water from entering, while remaining breathable to let moisture from your foot escape. The result is a boot that stays dry inside even when submerged, without the stuffiness you'd get from a fully rubber boot.

For boots with a zip (e.g. Hudson Storm, Quebec Zip-Up, Vermont Storm), the zip is covered with a waterproof gusset to prevent water ingress at the closure. The lace-up styles (Polar Storm, Blair Storm, Kentucky Storm, Chicago) use a gusseted lacing system that closes off water entry around the laces.

Yes — every boot listed here uses a Wil-Tex® waterproof membrane. This is a genuine waterproof lining bonded inside the leather, not a surface treatment that wears off over time. All zips on waterproof styles have a waterproof gusset.

Both are mid-calf height and both use WIL-TEX® membrane and X-Comfort® memory foam insoles. The pull-on version has no zip — you simply slip it on, making it slightly tidier in appearance and ideal if you have a standard foot width. The Zip-Up version adds an OPTI zip on the front for easier entry, and the design suits people with a wider foot, high instep, or limited ankle mobility.

For dog walking, you want something waterproof, comfortable for extended walking, and easy to clean. The Quebec range (mid-calf) is a popular choice — the pull-on versions have no laces to get muddy and are easy to wipe down. If you walk on rough or wet terrain, the Dual Grip outsole on the Ottawa Storm provides excellent grip. Yes — most boots here are well suited to yard duties. The Dual Grip outsole on the Ottawa Storm and Vancouver Storm provides good grip on wet, slippery surfaces. The Kentucky Storm and Blair Storm are popular with riders who switch between the yard and saddle without changing boots. After each wear, wipe off mud and dirt with fresh water and allow to dry naturally away from direct heat sources. Once dry, apply a leather conditioner or boot cream appropriate to the leather type — a wax-based conditioner(Dubbin) for waxed or nubuck calfskin (Hudson Storm, Polar Storm, Vermont Storm), and a standard leather cream for smooth calfskin. Regular conditioning keeps the leather supple and maintains the membrane's bond to the upper. Store with boot trees or rolled newspaper inside to keep shape.
