Which Bareback Footwear boots are waterproof?

The following styles are confirmed waterproof: Quebec (all styles), Rocky, Vancouver Storm, Alaska Storm, Ottawa Storm, Polar Storm, Hudson Storm, Dakota, Chicago, Kentucky Storm, Idaho Storm, Chatsworth Storm, and Blair Storm.

Long riding boots (Montana, Nebraska, Andalucia, Graceland, Georgia) and casual styles (Bronx, Buffalo, Toddy, Harley, Idaho Jodhpur) are not waterproof. They use breathable linings suited to comfort in the saddle or everyday wear.

Are the Montana long riding boots waterproof?

No. The Montana uses a Therma-tex moisture-wicking lining, which is breathable and comfortable for riding but does not provide a waterproof barrier. If you need full-height waterproofing, the Polar Storm is the only style in this collection with a confirmed waterproof membrane and full-leg coverage.

Which boots work for both riding and country walking?

The jodhpur boots — Kentucky Storm, Idaho Storm, Chatsworth Storm, and Blair Storm — are genuinely versatile. They are comfortable to ride in but also hardwearing enough for yard work and country walks.

The Quebec family, Rocky, Vancouver Storm, and Dakota are primarily country walking and yard boots. They feature anti-slip soles ideal for rough terrain, though they are not designed specifically for riding.

Which boots suit wide calves?

The Montana and Dakota are both available in a confirmed wide calf option. The Andalucia offers up to 3.5cm of adjustable calf width via its full leg lace system — the most adjustable long boot in the range. The Polar Storm also uses a full leg lace system for calf width adjustment.

If you are between sizes or have a particularly wide or slim calf, the Andalucia is worth considering for a long boot, and the Kentucky Storm (with its adjustable lace-and-zip system) is the most adaptable short riding boot.

How do I care for leather boots?

For smooth and waxed leather boots, clean off mud after each wear, allow to dry naturally away from direct heat, and apply Dubbin or wax polish regularly to nourish the leather. Use boot trees in long riding boots to prevent creasing and maintain the leg shape between wears.

For suede and nubuck styles (Chicago, Toddy), apply the Leather Protector Spray before first wear and use a suede brush to restore the nap. Avoid applying Dubbin to suede — it will permanently darken and stain the surface.
