Quebec is the most varied boot family in this collection, available in five distinct styles — all sharing the same Wil-Tex® waterproof membrane and X-Comfort® memory foam insole:

• Pull-On Mid-Calf (Brown, Black) — Classic slip-on with rear pull tab. Straightforward and fast to put on.
• Zip-Up Mid-Calf (Brown, Black) — OPTI zip for easier entry. Recommended for those with a high instep, limited ankle mobility, or a wider foot.
• Pull-On Ankle (Brown) — Shorter height, elasticated panel, rear pull tab. Ideal for shorter walks or lighter use.
• Zip-Up Ankle (Brown, Black) — Same OPTI zip benefit at ankle height. Also suited to wider feet or high instep.
• Wool-Lined Zip-Up (Brown) — Shearling interior and wool thermal insole for winter walks. OPTI zip entry.

Wide Fit is available in the Pull-On Mid-Calf, Zip-Up Mid-Calf, Zip-Up Ankle, and Wool-Lined styles. If you're unsure which height suits you, the mid-calf offers more coverage and ankle support; the ankle versions are lighter and easier for day-to-day wear.

Three styles stand out for genuine winter warmth:

• Quebec Wool-Lined (Brown) — Plush shearling lining and wool thermal insole keep the whole foot warm. Waterproof, OPTI zip, mid-calf height.
• Rocky Winter Mocha — Fully lined with natural sheep wool plus a removable sheep wool footbed. Wil-Tex® waterproof, Duratread® sole.
• Hudson Storm (Chocolate) — Premium full-height waterproof boot with sheep wool insole and Therma-tex moisture wicking lining throughout the leg. Full-grain waxed Italian leather. The warmest and most protective option in the collection.
• Hudson Mid (Chocolate) — Same sheep wool and Therma-tex construction as the Storm, in a mid-calf height.

For cold but not extreme conditions, the Rocky Copper and Rocky Brown also offer good warmth alongside their Wil-Tex® waterproofing.

The following styles are specifically recommended if you have a high instep, limited ankle mobility, or a wider foot:

• Quebec Zip-Up Mid-Calf and Zip-Up Ankle — Both product descriptions explicitly recommend these for high instep and wider foot. The OPTI zip runs the full length, making entry significantly easier than a pull-on.
• Quebec Wool-Lined — Also available in Wide Fit, with OPTI zip entry.
• Dakota (Brown, Blue) — Available in Standard and Wide Calf, so works well if calf width is the primary concern.
• Kentucky Storm — The fully adjustable lace system lets you dial in your own width, instep, and ankle support level precisely.

The Chatsworth Storm is specifically noted as not ideal for high instep — avoid this style if instep height is an issue for you.

All three Hudson boots share the same premium construction: Wil-Tex® waterproofing, full-grain waxed Italian leather, OPTI zip, Duratread® outsole, and Therma-tex moisture wicking lining. The difference is height and insole warmth:

• Hudson Ankle — Ankle height. X-Comfort® insole. The lightest and most versatile of the three; easier to wear on varied occasions.
• Hudson Mid — Mid-calf height. Sheep wool insole for added warmth. Better ankle coverage and more protection in deep mud or wet conditions.
• Hudson Storm — Full/tall height. Sheep wool insole, Therma-tex throughout the leg, double brass buckle opening. The most comprehensive option for serious wet or cold conditions.

All three come in Chocolate only. The tasselled OPTI zip (not detachable) and double-stitched sole detail are characteristic to the whole family. If in doubt between heights, the Hudson Mid is often the most practical — good coverage without the commitment of a full-height boot.

Both are waterproof jodhpur-height boots with Wil-Tex® membrane and buffed waxed calfskin uppers, available in Brown and Blue. The key difference is the closure system and insole:

The Chatsworth Storm uses a side zip with a soft gusseted zip for waterproof sealing. It uses a gel IMPACT insole for maximum shock absorption. The product description notes it is not ideal for those with a high instep.

The Blair Storm uses an adjustable lace system (similar to the Kentucky Storm) with a soft gusseted lace for 360° protection. The X-Comfort memory foam insole provides cushioning and can be removed. The lace system makes it more accommodating for different foot widths.

Both have contrast colour detail stitching. If you have a high instep or prefer to customise fit, the Blair Storm is the better choice.

No — the Bronx and Buffalo use breathable membranes but are not waterproof. All other boots in this collection include a confirmed waterproof membrane (Wil-Tex® or equivalent) and are suitable for wet conditions. If waterproofing is essential, avoid the Bronx and Buffalo.

The Duratread® outsole — found on the Rocky range, Hudson family, and Dakota — is specifically designed for hard-wearing anti-slip performance on all terrain types. The Quebec range uses an anti-slip PU and rubber compound outsole, also well rated for varied surfaces. The Kentucky Storm uses an integrated moulded shank for stability underfoot. All waterproof boots in this collection include anti-slip outsoles.

The Dakota is specifically available in both Standard and Wide Calf fitting — look for the Wide Calf version on the product page. The Quebec mid-calf pull-on, mid-calf zip-up, zip-up ankle, and wool-lined versions include a Wide Fit option. The Bronx has a generous standard fit. The Kentucky Storm uses an adjustable lace system that can accommodate different calf widths.

Yes — the Quebec product descriptions specifically recommend the zip-up versions (both mid-calf and ankle) for those with a high instep, limited ankle mobility, or a wider foot. The OPTI zip runs the full length of the boot, making it much easier to open the boot wide and step in, compared with a pull-on which requires forcing the foot past the top opening. If pull-on boots typically feel difficult or uncomfortable to get on, the zip-up versions are worth trying.

Most Bareback Footwear boots are true to size. If you are between sizes, or plan to wear thick walking socks, sizing up is generally advisable. For styles with Wide Fit options (Quebec, Dakota), the Wide Fit versions are separate products — they are not simply a wider variant of the standard product.
