Standard, Wide or Made to Measure – Which Fit?
The Montana comes in standard and wide calf fittings as a ready-made boot in black, brown and blue, which suits most riders. If you've struggled to find a long boot that fits comfortably over jodhpurs or breeches, or you have an unusually shaped calf, our made-to-measure service takes your own measurements and has a pair built specifically for you. Made-to-measure boots take around 6–9 weeks and are non-refundable, so it's worth trying a standard or wide fit first if you're unsure.
Lining, Comfort and Support
- Natural sheepskin insole encasing the whole foot and heel for warmth
- Integrated Therma-tex layer for extra insulation
- Moisture-wicking membrane to help keep feet comfortable during long days
- Built-in steel shank for arch support and stability in and out of the saddle
- Full-length elasticated OPTI® zip for an easy, secure fit
Are the Montana Boots Waterproof?
The Montana Riding Boots are not a waterproof boot. They're built with a moisture-wicking membrane, which helps manage sweat and keeps feet feeling drier during wear, but this isn't the same as a waterproof membrane. For very wet conditions, we'd recommend a dedicated waterproof boot and treating the leather regularly to help it shrug off light rain and splashes.
Looking After Your Montana Boots
Smooth leather boots like the Montana last for years if you clean and condition them regularly. Our Montana Boots Care Package includes a Collonil Carbon Complete cleaning foam and sponge, Collonil Protector spray, a combi brush and a suede crepe brush – everything you need to keep the leather supple and looking after its first clean. Wipe off mud and dirt after wear, let boots dry away from direct heat, and apply a protector spray periodically to help guard against stains and light wet weather.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the Montana Riding Boots waterproof?
No. The Montana has a moisture-wicking membrane for breathability and comfort, but it is not a waterproof boot. Treat the leather regularly and avoid prolonged standing water for best results.
What colours are the Montana available in?
The Montana comes in black, brown and a rich blue, each available in standard and wide calf fittings or as a made-to-measure order.
What's the difference between standard, wide and made-to-measure?
Standard and wide fit are both ready-made sizes covering most calf shapes, with wide fit giving extra room around the calf. Made-to-measure is built from your own measurements, taken over your usual riding wear, and is ideal if you've never found a ready-made boot that fits comfortably.
How long does a made-to-measure order take?
Made-to-measure Montana boots typically take 6–9 weeks to be made and delivered, and this can extend further around Christmas, bank holidays and factory holiday periods. Please note made-to-measure boots are non-refundable.
Can I wear Montana boots for everyday yard work, not just riding?
Yes. The sheepskin lining and Duratred® outsole make the Montana a popular choice for everyday yard duties and hacking out, not just competition wear.
How do I keep my Montana boots in good condition?
Wipe off mud after each wear, let them dry naturally away from direct heat, and use a proper leather cleaner and protector spray regularly. Our Montana Boots Care Package has everything you need in one kit.
