If you're regularly out in wet fields or riding in poor weather, these are worth the extra spend. For dry, everyday use, non-waterproof options like the Idaho Jodhpur Boots and Montana Riding Boots still offer breathable linings and good support at a lower price point.

If you need more room through the calf, look for our Wide Fit options. The Montana Riding Boots and Dakota Waterproof Country Boots are both available in Standard or Wide Calf, and the Andalucia Boots use a full-leg lace system giving up to 3.5cm of adjustable calf width on top of the Standard and Wide options. For jodhpur and ankle styles, the Quebec Waterproof range also includes Wide Fit versions for a roomier fit over thicker socks or breeches.

Jodhpur boots such as the Kentucky, Idaho and Chatsworth & Blair ranges sit at the ankle and are quick to get on and off, making them a practical choice for the yard as well as riding. For wet, muddy conditions around the yard, the Dakota Waterproof Country Boots and Ottawa Storm Waterproof Short Boots are built for it, with waterproof membranes and grippy Duratread or Dual Grip outsoles. The Ottawa also has a removable sheep wool insole, making it a good pick for cold, wet winter mornings on the yard.

Boots should sit snugly around the ankle and instep without pinching, with enough room to wiggle your toes. If you're between sizes, or have a high instep, size up rather than down — several of our jodhpur styles note that a high instep may need a wider fit.
