Country Lifestyle Ankle Boots

Most of our country lifestyle range uses a genuine Wil-Tex® or STORMPROOF WIL-TEX® waterproof membrane – that includes the Quebec, Vancouver, Kentucky, Chatsworth, Blair, Chicago, Idaho, Alaska, Rocky, Ottawa, Denver and Malvern boots. These are the boots to reach for on wet mornings, muddy yards or long country walks.

Other styles, such as the Detroit work boot, Buffalo, Bronx, Bramham, Harley, Barco deck shoes and Toddy short boots, are built for comfort and durability rather than waterproofing. They're better suited to dry days, indoor wear or lighter country use – we won't claim they're waterproof, because they're not.

If you need extra room through the calf, the entire Quebec range is cut with a wider fit, including the standard Quebec Waterproof Boots, the Ankle Boots, both Zip Up styles and the wool-lined version. The Alaska Storm Waterproof Boots are also generously cut for a relaxed, easy slip-on fit.

For riding, yard work or anyone who needs to fine-tune the fit through the ankle, look at our adjustable lace-up jodhpur boots: Kentucky, Chatsworth, Blair, Idaho and Bramham. These use full-length laces or speed hooks so you can adjust for instep, width and ankle support before slipping in via a side zip.

Country ankle boots should sit snugly around the ankle without pinching, with enough room in the toe box to wear a normal or thicker walking sock. Standard fit boots suit an average calf and foot width; if you have a higher instep or wider foot, choose an adjustable lace-up style such as the Kentucky, Blair or Chatsworth, or a wide-fit Quebec boot. Slip-on styles like the Bronx and Alaska rely on stretch panels, so they're best for average to narrower ankles.

Not every country boot needs to be waterproof. For dry-day dog walks, the school run or weekend errands, the Toddy short boots come in five colours, the Barco deck shoes are lightweight and sock-free, and the Buffalo, Bronx and Harley boots offer durable, comfortable everyday wear without the bulk of a full waterproof boot.

No. Boots such as the Quebec, Vancouver, Kentucky, Chatsworth, Blair, Chicago, Idaho, Alaska, Rocky, Ottawa, Denver and Malvern ranges use a genuine Wil-Tex® waterproof membrane. Others, including the Detroit, Buffalo, Bronx, Bramham, Harley, Barco and Toddy styles, are not waterproof and are better suited to dry conditions.

The full Quebec Waterproof range is cut with a wider fit, and the Alaska Storm Waterproof Boots are also generously sized. Both are good starting points if you find standard boots too tight through the calf.

Kentucky, Chatsworth, Blair, Idaho and Bramham boots all use a full lace-up front with a side zip, so you can adjust the fit around your instep and ankle before doing up the zip to get in and out easily.

Both are waterproof, adjustable-fit jodhpur boots with a Wil-Tex® membrane. The Kentucky range comes in six colourways with an X-Comfort® moulded insole, while the Chatsworth uses a Gel IMPACT insole and comes in Brown and Blue. Try both if you're unsure – the Chatsworth suits most foot shapes, but those with a high instep may prefer the Kentucky.

Yes. For wet or muddy walks, choose one of our waterproof styles such as the Rocky, Vancouver or Ottawa boots. For dry-day walks, the Buffalo, Bronx and Toddy boots are comfortable, durable everyday options.

Yes, the Children's Bronx Boots and Toddy Children's Short Boots are both scaled for younger feet, with the same breathable linings and non-slip soles as our adult ranges.

The Dixie Cowboy Boots and Franklin Chelsea Boots are current clearance lines, and the Malvern Waterproof Short Boots have only a small number of sizes left. Check the size guide carefully before ordering, as stock on these is limited.
