Adjustable Equestrian Long Boots

Not every boot in this collection adjusts calf width in the same way. The Polar Storm and Andalucia boots use a full-leg lace system: the laces run the height of the boot leg, so you can loosen them over a fuller calf or pull them snug for a narrower leg. The Andalucia adds a rear stretch gusset under the lacing for up to 3.5cm of extra give, plus a rear OPTI zip so you don't have to re-lace the boot every time you put it on.

The Quebec range takes a different approach. Rather than a lace-adjustable calf, these boots use an elasticated ankle, rear pull tab or Opti Zip to make getting the boot on and off easier over a higher instep or wider foot, and the Wide Fit versions are cut with extra room through the leg from the outset.

The Polar Storm and the full Quebec range use a Wil-Tex waterproof membrane or lining, so they're a sound choice for wet yards, muddy fields and winter turnout. The Andalucia boots are not waterproof; they use a Therma-Tex moisture-wicking lining instead, which is better suited to everyday riding and stable work in drier conditions. If you need extra room through the leg, look at the Andalucia Boots (Standard & Wide Fit, with a lace-adjustable calf and stretch gusset), the Quebec Zip-Up Wool Lined Boots, or the Quebec Waterproof Boots, both cut as Wide Fit. All three give you a wider base fit plus some further adjustment through laces, zips or elastication.

Start with your usual shoe size, then use the calf adjustment to fine-tune the fit around the leg rather than sizing up or down in the foot. On lace boots, loosen the top sections for a fuller calf and keep the ankle snug for support. On the Quebec range, choose the Wide Fit versions if you have a higher instep or wider foot, and expect the elasticated ankle or Opti Zip to do most of the work getting the boot on.
