Most of the boots in this collection use a Wil-Tex or WilTex® waterproof membrane, built into styles like the Kentucky Storm, Idaho Storm, Ottawa Storm, Chatsworth Storm and Blair Storm. These are genuinely waterproof, not just water-resistant, so they're suited to wet yards, muddy fields and rain during hacking.

The Idaho Jodhpur Boots (non-Storm version) are not waterproof. They use a breathable leather lining instead, which suits dry, everyday schooling and general yard wear better than standing water or heavy rain.

The Kentucky Storm and Blair Storm use a gusseted lace system, so you can adjust the fit across your instep and ankle before slipping the boot on via the side zip. This is useful if you have a narrower or wider foot than average.

The Idaho, Idaho Storm and Chatsworth Storm use a front zip for a quicker, no-fuss fit. The Ottawa Storm is a pull-on style with elasticated stretch panels rather than a zip or lace, so allow a little extra room if you have a high instep.

For the coldest, wettest mornings, the Ottawa Storm Waterproof Short Boots stand out, with a genuine sheep wool lining and removable sheep wool insole alongside their Wil-Tex waterproof membrane and Dual Grip outsole for extra traction underfoot.

If you'd rather have a lighter waterproof boot for general wet-weather riding, the Kentucky Storm and Blair Storm both include memory foam insoles for all-day comfort without the extra bulk of a wool lining.

• Idaho / Idaho Storm – breathable lining with a removable Cambrella-lined insole and an arched shank sole to reduce fatigue.

• Chatsworth Storm – moisture-wicking lining with a gel IMPACT insole for shock absorption.
• Blair Storm – moisture-wicking lining with an X-comfort memory foam insole.

All styles include a moulded or arched shank in the sole to support the arch of your foot during long days in the saddle or on the yard.

Jodhpur boots should sit snugly around the ankle with no heel slip, and finish just above the ankle bone so they tuck neatly under jodhpurs or half chaps. If you have a higher instep, the lace-adjustable Kentucky Storm or Blair Storm give you more control over the fit than a fixed zip. Bear in mind that both the Chatsworth Storm and Ottawa Storm can be trickier to get on if you have a high instep, so it's worth trying these on or checking our size guide before you order.

Yes. All the boots in this collection are built to cope with both riding and general yard duties, with supportive shanks and durable leather uppers. The Ottawa Storm's Dual Grip outsole is a particularly good match for mucking out and walking on wet or uneven ground.

If you have a high instep, the lace-adjustable Kentucky Storm and Blair Storm tend to be easier to get on and adjust. The Chatsworth Storm and Ottawa Storm may be trickier to enter if your instep is higher than average.
