Every boot in this collection uses a genuine waterproof membrane rather than just a water-resistant coating. The Hudson Storm and Hudson Mid Boots use a Wil-Tex® membrane with a soft gusset for 360° protection, the Hudson Ankle Boots use a Stormproof Wil-Tex® lining, the Dakota boots use a top-to-toe Wil-tex® membrane, and the Vermont Storm uses an upgraded W-Tex® waterproof lining with a gusseted zip. All are genuinely built to keep water out in wet fields, on muddy walks and in the yard.

If you need more room around the calf, the Hudson Storm Waterproof Boots and both colourways of the Dakota Waterproof Country Boots are your best options. The Hudson Storm has an adjustable buckle for extra flexibility as well as a Wide Calf option, while the Dakota is available in a Standard or Extra Wide Calf fit. Both are knee-high styles, so they give the most coverage as well as the most room.

The Hudson Mid Boots and Vermont Storm Waterproof Long Riding Boots are both cut to a standard calf fit without a wide option, so they suit a slimmer leg shape best. The Vermont Storm is also designed with riding in mind, so it sits closer to the leg for use in the saddle. The Hudson Ankle Boots are an ankle-height alternative, so calf fit doesn't apply to them.

Not every boot in this collection is knee-high, so it's worth checking the height before you buy. The Hudson Storm Waterproof Boots and Dakota Waterproof Country Boots are our tallest, knee-high styles, ideal for deep mud and long grass. The Hudson Mid Boots sit lower at mid-calf for a bit more freedom of movement, while the Hudson Ankle Boots are the shortest option, best for everyday wear where full leg coverage isn't needed. The Vermont Storm is a long riding boot cut for use in the saddle.

They share the same Wil-Tex® waterproofing, sheep wool insole and Duratread® outsole, but the Hudson Storm is a taller, knee-high boot with a Wide Calf option, while the Hudson Mid Boots sit lower at mid-calf and come in a Standard fit only.

Yes. While they're designed with a low heel and dual grip outsole for riding, the waterproof lining and steel shank also make them a practical choice for muddy walks, the yard or general country wear.

You should be able to fit two fingers comfortably between the top of the boot and your leg. If your usual calf fit feels tight, try the Wide or Extra Wide Calf option on the Hudson Storm or Dakota boots rather than sizing up in length.

The knee-high Hudson Storm or Dakota boots give the most coverage for deep mud, thanks to their height and Duratread® anti-slip outsoles. If you want lower coverage for quick jobs, the Hudson Mid or Hudson Ankle Boots are still fully waterproof.
