Most of our best-selling ankle boots use a Wil-Tex® waterproof membrane, including the Vancouver, Rocky, Rocky Winter, Ottawa, Idaho, Chatsworth, Blair and Kentucky ranges — all confirmed waterproof and well suited to wet yards, fields and muddy dog walks. If you mainly need a boot for dry-weather chores or everyday wear, the Bronx, Buffalo and Bramham are non-waterproof options with breathable linings instead, which can feel cooler on warm days.

Several models are built with an adjustable fit to suit different ankle and calf shapes. The Kentucky, Idaho, Chatsworth, Blair and Bramham all feature lace or zip adjustment so you can fine-tune the fit around your ankle. If you prefer a simple slip-on with no lacing to fuss with, the Bronx and Buffalo use elasticated side panels instead for a snug, no-fuss fit.

For the coldest months, the Rocky Winter and Ottawa are lined with natural sheep wool for extra warmth alongside their waterproof membrane. If you'd like the same waterproofing without the wool bulk — for milder weather or all-year wear — the standard Rocky and Vancouver use a lighter breathable lining instead.

Comfort features vary across the range: the Kentucky and Blair use X-comfort memory foam insoles, the Idaho and Chatsworth include Cambrella or gel IMPACT cushioning, and the Rocky models use a moisture-wicking therma-tex layer. Our Storm waterproof jodhpur styles — Kentucky, Idaho, Chatsworth and Blair — all include an integrated moulded or arched shank for arch support, helping reduce fatigue on long days on your feet.

Ankle boots should sit snugly around the ankle without pinching, with enough room to wiggle your toes comfortably. If you have a high instep, note that the Chatsworth and Ottawa may feel tight when putting the boot on — the adjustable lace or zip styles such as the Kentucky, Idaho and Blair tend to be more forgiving. Wear the socks you'd normally ride or work in when trying boots on, and check our size guide if you're unsure between sizes.

The Rocky Winter and Ottawa are both lined with natural sheep wool as well as being fully waterproof, making them our warmest options for cold, wet mornings.

The Idaho has a sealed front zip and double side spur rests, making it a practical choice for riders. The Chatsworth uses a gusseted zip system and a gel IMPACT insole, with a slightly smarter waxed calfskin finish for all-round wear — though neither is recommended if you have a high instep.
